Evidently you have never bought a good performing mutual fund!

only thing i notice with people using a garmin (yes, i use one as well) is that they spend more time staring at the hand unit wondering 'where' the dog tracked the coon, rather than listening and paying attention to how it tracked it.
But it is a handy unit, and adds that much more piece of mind to turning my dog loose.

I can listen and look, only adds to the enjoyment

make sure your collars are blinking 3times in a row and not twice.if their only blinking twice your collars need to be upgraded.

Not necessarily. If they blink three times, that means the update is installed. If it only blinks twice, that does not mean the update is not installed.
I will explain. Before the triple blink update, you had no way of knowing whether the collar had a 2D or 3D satellite lock. You can have a double blink and still have the update, it just means the collar has a poor gps fix and it is calculating position data by latitude and longitude. A triple blink means it is calculating latitude, longitude and elevation which is called a 3D (dimensional) fix. My collars double blink occasionally but usually when they are in the house. The receiver in the collar is good enough to where they should almost always have a 3D fix if outside, in the open.

No problem. I knew what you meant by upgraded.

I do not know if I would recommend that unless you have been playing with it around the house much. Not because the garmin has problems, just in case of cockpit error!
Enjoy, you will love it!

Thats a good idea. A couple of months ago one COLD and WINDY night I pushed a wrong button and spent the next 45 minutes sitting in the pickup reading the manual got it going and found the dog mile and half away treed. LOL

.

Tell us what you think from your hunt last night.

Posted by dogfaceNH on 04-11-2011 12:44 AM:

Worked great, never lost signal...

but the dogs never got treed past 237 yards...only freecasted once, then rig hunted the rest of the night...not really what I would call giving it a true test. wd

I'm glad the Racoons doesn't have this modern technology! lol

Got out to 978 yards tonight in VERY hilly, wooded, rocky terrain the Garmin never even blinked. Three dogs treed at 600+ yards and it worked perfect. Love this thing so far. wd

Dogs got into a spot where we had to drive way around to get to them...had the dogs at almost 3 miles at one point from inside the truck with the extended antenna. Love that thing!
