Honesly, I used to ask myself why anyone would want to hunt a blue dog?

Then I came to the conclusion that just about any dog in any breed can be good if the time is put into them.

All in all I think there are far more hunters that take coon hunting very seriously and the majority of them happen to hunt walker dogs. I'll let ya'll decide why that is.

I have to agree with this part of your post ... if you are careful about choosing what your are working with within a breed.

I am sure there are some good walkers out there, I just aint never seen one. I guess I got ruined when my buddies jumped on the Walker-Wagon years ago. I hunted with them off and on and never saw those high powered road running idiots actually tree a coon. Of course I never had a Bluetick I liked til last year when I got two that are doing really well. I will probably never own a Walker as I dont like thier style and have seen too many mean ones. I have had good Redbones, B&T's, and Plotts. I now hunt Leopards and Boo ticks. If mine bark you will see a coon.

You know it's funny.. I have seen a handful of good blue dogs, zero good redbones, one good poltt, and zero good laepord dogs.

From hunting in the hunts for several years now in a few different states you would think if there were many around I would cross paths with them more.

Maybe you and I need to get together sometime to show one another our "goods".

The reason there are far more good walker dogs is simply because there are far more serious hunters that hunt them.

I think we are getting a clear snapshot of you now.

No bashing here! I already said ANY dog in ANY breed can be good if the time is put into it.

I have been fortunate enough here latley to hunt with quite a few diffrent dogs from slick treeing walkers that babble right off the snap to tight lipped english hounds that will pull up short a time or two, to a opossum chasing blue tick that may or may not have been chasing lord knows what before treed and one thing i have found out is they all will have a bad night from time to time and other nights they look like they are worth a million dollars.as long as YOUR happy with what YOUR feeding then so be it.

Never ask a man what kind of dog he has. If he has a hound he'll tell you, if he does not, you don't want to shame him by asking.

I get chills when I hear a blue dog yodel.. Bad memories! 4 of my friends alll at one time or another decided they wanted blue dogs. Made for many many rough nights in the woods. Maybe all of them didn't have the right kind?
