Tailgate Adventures Critics
Alright, I've received some ribbing lately for the manner in which we (or I) have harvested some raccoon on the show. Which is perfectly fine. But I have also received some pretty rough emails and phone calls from folks telling us we should be ashamed of the manner in which we have obviously provided ammunition to the anti-hunters. And for those folks, here's my response...
First of all, there's no real winning at this game, and I know that. We've been criticized for not showing hunts where we harvest game, now we're criticized when we do. Some don't want us to show any killing and others want us to show more "fur flying". Many have criticized us for not "keeping it real".
For those that are concerned about the recent episodes, and obviously don't share Joe and Shane's sense of humor with regards to my shooting, let me ask you...
What did you really see? Was it shooter error, scope/gun error, or maybe some "dud" bullets. Or did you see any "error" at all???
We very purposely never show the raccoon actually being shot, as we see nothing to gain by that. The same reason we never show any dogs killing a coon. So again, what did you see? Did I miss the coon multiple times, correct my aim and finally shoot and kill him on the last round? Did I kill him on the first shot, and shoot multiple more times just to knock him out of a fork in the tree? Maybe we made it all up, and never showed the actual shot at the coon??? Either way, none of these scenarios involve any torturing of a raccoon.
So let me ask the critics out there... before you jump to conclusions and make poor assumptions, and blast us for cruelty to animals, or providing antis with ammunition, why don't you leave that up to the antis and let us deal with them, if they are so bold to contact us. Criticizing without knowing the whole story, or having proof of any wrong-doing is what they do. Let's not join them and gang up on one another.
Remember it's not easy making everyone happy and solely representing and entire sport and pastime on national television.
Dave
I cant stand the anti-hunter and animal rights people. Do they even realize how bad the animals would suffer if their population wasnt controlled? I say film the show how ever you want to. It isnt made for the anti hunters to watch anyhow.

I haven't been able to see the show. I see deer and many other animals being harvested on hunting shows. I feel there should be nothing wrong with showing the harvest. With that said, not showing the actual harvest is just fine too. I don't coonhunt for the kill. Hearing dogs track and tree then having a show of the coon on the show is great and I would not complain if that's all that was shown. From the web episodes I have seen.... you boys are doing a FINE!!! Job. Keep'er up son!!
plenty of Amuntion out there David and Joe as long as
your sponsors dont have a problem and you guys are
having fun enjoy it.
just keep doing the show the way you are,and if they dont like it they can always change the channel. thats just my opinion I enjoy every show
You guys are doing a fine job. Its a pretty tricky job to try and showcase our sport and at the sametime pander to the sensibilities of the uninformed, so dont try. Definatley a ****ed if ya do ****ed if ya dont situation. Keep up the good work.

I like it myself..Go kill some more! To heck with the anti hunters..I dont plan my life AROUND them..They get hunting banned.I will be a criminal.. Im not ashamed to show my dead stuff or post videos of it..They kill deer and other stuff on TV all the time..I dont see a difference..I dont care how many shots you shoot..I usually try and hit em in the head..Dont wanna risk injury to my dog.I've not always been this way but learned it the hard way..We CANT LET THE ANTI'S RUN OUR LIVES!!!!!!!! We are hunters! Part of hunting is KILLING STUFF
I really enjoy the show..Keep up the good work..

I am in the Military, and an Infantryman, and when it comes to weapons qualification, I always do quite well, however, I am by no means the best shot when it comes to shooting a coon that is well over my head. Just can't do it. I always get a good ribbing from my buddies when I have the gun. So, I had a chuckle seeing you in the same situation on the show.
As far as I am concerned this season of Tailgate adventures has been great, love the breeder episodes, and the harvest episodes (And I like seeing some Clover power out there for the national audience)
So keep up the good work!

Dave, you keep doing the show like it is. I think ya'll do a great job. I'm glad we finally have a show we can watch with hounds. I personally like the later shows but that's just my opinion. That sure is a nice Walker dog you have! With that said I do have one complaint. What's up with the Blue dog on the last show? I realize his tree was slick but ya'll didn't give him a chance. One screw-up and he's gone! He sure was pretty. Great show keep up the good work. Larry

2 Thumbs up!!! Love your show and DVR every one of them. I told my buddy the other day that I would love for you to do a pup training show where I could get a 7 month old Plott pup I raised into the coon population that you have in Indiana, I bet you have heard that a few thousand times huh? LOL!!!! Anyway keep up the good work and good luck with the show, Todd
Tailgate crew
To start out I love the show I tape every episode so I dont miss it. The wife dose not share the same passion as I do so I wait until she is out to catch up on the shows. Now for the bad, can we see some diffrent dogs I know Joe has more then 2 dogs in his kennel. Lets see some young prospects at work or some training techniques that you guys use from time to time. Or even a small section at the end of every episode on the progress of one or two pups and follow there progress form start to finish ( good or bad finish) we all know that every pup dose not make a good coon dogs.
Just my opinion guys I cant wait until next week. Fojr the next episode.
Thanks for your hard work:

WHERE IT'S A PLEASURE TO HUNT!
Dave and Joe you fellas keep on doing what you are doing i personally thought it was Comical with your shooting WE all have been there, you keep your show at the Coon Hunters Level and potray every hunt as fun and Friendly, if the ones that are contacting you about the Killing are Hunters then they are not MUCH of a Hunter, I WONDER If the Outdoor Channels get Complaints on all the DEER and Turkeys KILL Shots,
Keep Up The Good Work there is more Hunters For you than People Against You
TGA
Dave : you ought to know by now you will never be able to please everyone, no matter what you're doing !! Because we enjoy watching you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
