What should I get him ??!!??

My boy friend likes to keep his hunting life and me separate. He says I won't understand and won't like hunting. I disagree mostly because I have never tried hunting or tried to understand it. I have never dated someone like him before, he loves to coon hunt big trucks and working out side and with animals. So for his birthday I wanted to get him something that he would like. Usually I buy my boyfriends watches, clothes, and some times I send them flowers and candy, but what should I get for my special man.

Well...

If he likes to coon hunt, a puppy would be a good idea!! Just make sure you know which breed he likes, then surprise him with a puppy!

After all:

"The only way into a coon hunters heart, is through his dogs!!"

I would not advise a puppy. Get him any type of hutning gear, new light boots etc....

Only HE knows what type of puppy he wants, bloodline, etc.....

or some glamor shots but you should post them on here first to so we can see if they will be sufficent

SERIOUSLY---

You could get him the WALK WITH WICK Book from wickoutdoorworks.com . It will be hard to get him hunting equipment without knowing what he needs and hunters are picky about certain brands a lot of times.

I don't think any guy would complain or be disappointed if they got the Walk With Wick book-- it may give him some insight on things (coonhunting) that he'd never thought of before.

Best of Luck,
Kat

What to get him?

I'm really sorry but I'd be giving him the ejection button or counseling. With an attitude like that I'd be getting me a new boyfriend. When you are in a functional and committed relationship there is no 'separate' other than work. Not saying the two of you need to be joined at the hip, but I would think seriously about somebody that is very unwilling to include their partner and somebody they say they care about in at least experiencing something they do. It would be one thing if you had no interest and refused to go by choice, but for him not to allow you to try it??? And to tell YOU what you won't understand or will not like??? When somebody won't let you in on what is important to them, you aren't that important to them.

Textbook potrait of somebody who is a control freak and/or has something to hide.

I had held off responding.

Something in your post dinged a bell for me and Starplott dinged on it too. You are free to choose your relationships but I have serious concerns about any man who would be unwilling to show you what he truly enjoys. Maybe at this time he has a fear of commitment or is afraid you might intrude on his freedoms. But what really concerns me is his seemingly condescending attitude that you would not understand. I myself am proud of my hunting and will gladly show anyone who expressed an interest. As a matter of fact when my wife and I started dating I stated up front that I was a hunter and questioned whether she had a problem with that. She did not and I encouraged her to go to the woods with me. She has been deer hunting, squirrel hunting, turkey hunting, and coon hunting as well as fishing. I have not pressured her and have allowed her to make her own choices. She has decided on her own that she doesn't care for deer, squirrel or coon hunting. But come turkey season she is right there beside me as I call to Mr Tom. She chooses not to carry a gun that is her choice. She is even more passionate than I about fishing, especially catfishing. I am proud to have a wife that understands me and shares some of my passions. In all things in my life she is my partner and friend. A relationship can only work if both partners keep the other fully informed as to what the other is doing. I would never tell my wife that she would not understand. I try my best to show her so that she does understand. You are just 16 please do not let the idea of being in a relationship cloud your judgement. You are your own person unless you are willing to be the "good little wife" I would seriously think about all this. BTW I have daughters the oldest not much younger than you and this is the advice I would give them. Of course when it comes to hunting, my oldest just might be the one saying you just don't understand.

Hay!!!!!!!!! Just thought of a GOOD JOKE for you guys. There was this coonhunter who hunted EVERY NIGHT!!!!! I mean EVERY NIGHT!!!!!!!!! It didnt matter if it was raining, storming, flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning ........... anything at all.........he was in the woods EVERY NIGHT. Well guess what.......... yeah, he was married!!!!!! His wife just got used to it I guess you could say. Well one day it started raining and storming REALLY BAD. The hunter was about to turn his dog loose and he had a change of heart. He said to hisself. He said, I got a good warm bed at home and a pretty wife and here I am out in the rain with this ole dog. I've had enough of this crap!!!!! I'm going home !!!!!!!!!! He had not even turned his dog loose and he just loaded him back up and headed for home. He got home and the front door was unlocked. He thought nothing of it and headed for bed. He was nice and quiet so as not to wake his wife. He didnt turn on any lights, he just left it dark so he wouldnt disturb her. He crawled into bed real easy and then his wife woke up. He said to her, " WOW!!!! It sure is storming bad out there, I could hardly see to drive and the lightning is REALLY bad too. His wife said yeah........... " AND CAN YOU BELIEVE MY HUSBAND IS OUT THERE IN THAT CRAP????? !!!!!!!!!!???????!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Thank you every one

Well to every one who thought I was 16, I am 19. I use the 16 because I was born on the 16th. But thank you to every one for the good advice. The fact is we talk but he never makes time for me unless it's convenient for him. So I have decided that for his bitrth day I will get him somethgn that I want to get him and that reminds me of him, because i am no longer going out of my way to make him happy. He should be happy with me tring to give him all that I can and if he's not then i'm sorry but good bye, i'm sure there are tons of great guys out there who would love to be with some one like me.

Catherine

BOY, lol TBO and DK

gonna be pestering you more now that you came out as of legal age, lol.

Yes you are right, you don't have to settle. 19 is plenty young and there's a LOT of other things to do other than getting hooked up with some jerk and sucked into something you will wish later you didn't. Girl, you got nothing but time. Live for what YOU want and strive for what YOU feel you deserve. When the hubby and the kids come along you won't be sitting back feeling overwhelmed and short changed.
