Needing Prayers

I know when people get a dog they absolutely love, they end up losing it or something happens. Well in my case something happened. Last Monday me and my husband went to our kennels and found our female laying in her dog house flipping like a fish, totally paralyzed. Immediately we took her home and put her in a hot shower. While I was washing her I found a big grey tick in her arm pit. I checked her gums, temp., the whole nine yds. It was all FINE. So I got her stabilized and took her to the vet first thing Tuesday morning. When I got there he was stumped that she was totally paralyzed but fine. He asked if she had been hit by a car and I said No she hasn't been outta the kennel since the Thursday before for a PKC hunt(which she won). Then he asked if she got a hold of any dead animals, I said she don't fart around in the woods, when you find her she's belly up...(he smiled). I told him bout the tick and he was puzzled that she had 1 this late in winter. He then started putting all the diagnosis together and said our girl had coonhound paralysis or tick paralysis. I removed the tick last Monday and she still isn't better, but I've read that it can take up to 4 mths to see a full recovery. She's eatting fine. Using the bathroom normally, and wiggling round the house on her belly. I know it's mentally frustrating for her because she's ALWAYS a high strung dog. I'm just asking on behalf of my husband to pray for his babygirl, and a speedy recovery. It's just hard to watch such a truely great dog lay around depressed. Again prayers are needed for her. She's able to bear weight for longer than a minute now, ON HER OWN. So keep praying everyone who reads this and has a heart for their hound.

I know it’s rough when the dogs we love are having a bad time, but at least you know what is going on with her. This will be a good time to get an even better relationship with her inside the house. If I were her I would probably act like I was still feeling bad to get an extension on my in house stay!! Hopefully she will be up and running quickly. Good luck to you and her.

Thanks va.b&t. she is getting spoiled for sure. She sleeps by my bed on heating pads, blankets, AND HER PILLOW, and during the day I put her in front of the television. It keeps her alert and looking around...lol. She eats can dog food normally but she wouldn't eat the other day so I offered her honey ham from the fridge, now that and bologna is all she'll eat... As long as she eats I'll buy all I can. Thanks for your support and kind words.

3-dogpackleader, Her name is Storm and she is my husbands PRIDE AND JOY! We can't have children, so I guess God gave us GREAT dogs to fill that emptiness. We've only had her for about a year now and she has just impressed us like NO OTHER! Again please pray for our girl and thank you for your prayers.

B&T/Walker. I hate to hear that bout your hound. I don't know what I'd do if we lost one of our hounds. Just keep looking is all I can say. He will show up or you will find him belly up on a tree... Just keep good spirits about you, he will turn up.

hopefully she gets better soon . i tell people all the time i spray my dogs for ticks and fleas in the winter and they laugh , bought a pup the other day and lone and behold had a tick in the ear and fleas !

STORM UPDATE

For anyone who has prayed for Storm keep it coming! She's totally alert now, getting her appetite up, and eatting and drinking own her own. She's wanting to stand so bad, but her muscles still won't let her. We can put her on her feet and she tries to walk a few steps then stumbles. She's one female that wants to LIVE! Again keep the heartfelt prayers coming and pray she's back to her ole self again.

prayers sent from here.i know wat it is like i lost a dobie but it was her or them but she left her mark on them for life protecting wat she was trained to do but i bet you the to men never do aney of your dogs this way or no dog bad again.they tryed to break in but now i even have cervalice camers that record wirless pulss the dogs in side .if they mess with my dog or yours I AM THE LAW THEN becauls they dont care but that was several years ago my dogs are just like my familey but i love them more then some of my familey one dobie sleeps with me every night and will fight a person to the death to protect and she is like a babby with my companey but well trained and one of the best babby siters there is she will mommey your kids when she is out side with them just like they are hers europen breed in europ and has all the rite drives,man i am bored tonight and i am a 1 finger typer and cant spell a lick,i just hope people keep there kids in scholl i know i make sure mine gets a great education becalus i never did but times hase changed,i went to work at 15 left home and stayed in the woods but if i had it to do again i would do it all over again becauls i love the woods and dogs.thanks to you all for listing to me tonight rambeling along i am just bord i am ust to being out of this house more and that will chang soon,david

Thank you VA.REB & PROFESSOR RAIN for praying for our girl. She's acting totally normal now, just not walking. I wished I knew if there was some way we could help her TRY to walk. She's came along way since Feb. 1st. The prayers are truely appreciated.

Storm is making progress in leaps and bounds. She's on week 3 and up until last friday she couldn't even stand or sit. Now can can get up on her front end and if I help her up, she's up walking around. Not well but at her speed. Never really knew how nosy she was until she's loose in the house...lol. Storm I believe will walk again and she's getting her bark back (@ 3am when I'm trying to sleep) She has been watched carefully and constantly for the past 3 wks and wouldn't have made it if I hadn't been there 24/7.
