Bright Eyes LED head

Friday night Ray Conrad brought one of his new LED heads to the Legal Defense Hunt. The head has 5 LED bulbs and is rated at 1200 lumens. We shined it in several trees, including a huge pine, and the light is bright and crisp. It is a good white light with little reflection coming back to you as with a standard incandescent bulb.

Saturday night Laird Thompson and I tested it in the woods. It is a good walking light eliminating the shadowing you get from most incandescent bulbs. It wasn't spread out 160 degrees as most of the other LED heads I have seen.
At the first tree we compared 21v LED to 21v incandescent. The LED would shine thru the incandescent. It was able to draw down to a good tight spot. Something I hadn't seen on other LED heads.
At the next tree we compared the 21v LED to a 28v incandescent. The results were the same, the LED would shine thru the incandescent. The LED head heat output was comparable to most incandescent bulbs on high.
The LED head plugs straight into a regular beltlight,(or boxlight), without any problems. You turn your rheostat wide open on your light and use the switch on the head to adjust. I prefer to be able to adjust my head on my side, but Ray said he could go into my light and fix it so I can.
The head is machined from aircraft aluminum and looks good. It is a smaller diameter than a 5100 head and weighs a little more, maybe a few ounces, but its not enough to tell.
The price is $195.00. This may seem a little expensive, but once you compare this head to some of the others I have seen I think you will be as impressed as we were. It is quality craftsmanship from start to finish. I don't think you will go wrong investing in one of these heads.
Ray said he would be making them available for sale at the Winter Classic. They are worth checking out..

I figured it was going to be a good one when he really didn't want to sell me the other one at the Grand American. I going to call him and reserve mine today.

Does it look like this

This pic is of a G2

Posted by Texas7Mag on 01-25-2010 02:46 PM:

How would you say it compared to the pro head on a 21v belt pac ?

Posted by Ray Conrad on 01-25-2010 03:18 PM:

Yes,It uses the same reflector as the head in the picture. Uses different but similar leds for higher output. Also uses a different driver for higher output. Head is completely made of aircraft aluminum for proper heatsinking. It is approximately 2.25 inches in diameter and about a quarter inch shorter than a 5100 head. It weighs about 1.5 ounces more than a 5100 head. It is anodized black with a red anodized bezel. It is pretty much waterproof and will work with any light over 17 volts. Keep in mind that leds although they may look alike can be very different they may look exactly a like and can have output that is very different depending on the led and the way it is being driven. The key to making leds last is how cool you can get them to run my head is designed with this first and foremost in mind this head will hold up and should give years of service. Other than the reflector my head is 100 % american made right here in Rock Hill,SC . Gentlemen I have worked many hours on this head and spent lots of time educating myself on the proper way to utilize todays Led technology. Leds are going to be constantly changing over the next while with brighter and better ones coming. I have designed this head and driving system so that I can upgrade it in the future so when new leds come out I will be able to give you the upgrades without you having to repurchase a new head. Thanks for the business over the Years. Bright Eyes really appreciates your business and hope you find our new product to your liking.

It looks more professionally built than most of the LED heads I have seen. It is machined from a solid piece of aircraft aluminum and then anodized w/ a black finish

I am hunting with a friend tonight who has the pro-head, I'll let you know.

I have a 21v Cajun with the pro head . The pro head is as bright as the 5100 head turned all the way up on the high side . I was just wondering if the new Bright Eyes is as bright as the Pro head or brighter .

Ray, Do you use PWM to dim this head ?

G2 Advantage at Conkey's.

You can order the G2 Advantage from Conkey's.

You will have to go to the website to see the price because some of the moderators have said dealers could not post prices on the mainboard or they would be banned. I am not a dealer but I am not taking any chances LOL

Dealers or Vendors can post prices on the vendor board, but not on the main board.

Hey Ray do you plan on having them at the SETWD in Salisbury, NC? You don't anticipate on selling out do you? I would like to try and get one there if possible, won't be able to make it to the Winter Classic.
