Monadnock Sportmans Club in NH
I have dedicated myself (with many friends) to try and help this club rebound this year. As much as it may pi@@ some people off I am going to tell it like it is...
With only two clubs in the entire state we cannot afford to lose any!
- This club has "left a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths" through out the years and has lost a lot of really good members because of it.
- This past year I believe there were only 5 members, 3 of which were active. The members trying to keep the club alive were paying for everything out of their own pockets.
- There will be a meeting in Jan (tba), I encourage anyone from the New England area to attend if possible.
- There will be BIG changes for this upcoming year.
- Quality leadership & membership is a must to hold quality events.
- Everyone will feel welcome instead of feeling like outcasts. Some people must learn that a "thanks for coming", goes a long way!
- Entertaining the ideas of BBQ's, horseshoe tournaments, quality raffles and family fun. (All to be brought up in January's meeting)
- People should not feel as though they have to enter an event to come. Bring the family, have some lunch, pat some dogs, it doesn't matter as long as we keep the sport alive! Kids are our future, BRING THEM, there are plenty of frogs to catch in the pond.
- The emphasis on bringing all houndsmen (whether you run coondogs, beardogs, cat or coyote) and their families together for a day of fun regardless of entries is a must.
-This club can be run on "cheap money" if done right.
- WE have a lot of work ahead of US.
- I will let everyone know when the first meeting is as soon as a date has been set.
- Spread the word.
- Please join me in trying to turn this club around, thanks.

Duke, Doug, Dave and Phil thanks for the replies. We need to rally on this one for sure.
- We all know what needs to happen.
- We all know how to fix it.
- We all know people that are willing to help.
- We all know it won't be easy.
- We all know it will be worth it in the end.
- Spread the word, let's make it work.
- It doesn't matter if your a competition hunter, pleasure hunter or just have a love for hounds, we hope to see you around this coming year.
Thanks to all! wd
Phil
The club is just outside of Keene. You are more than welcome to come to my house and ride over with me. I live half way between both the Monadnock club and the Rochester club which are located on opposite sides of the state. I will post the date of the initial meeting as soon as I know. wd
Thanx wayne yeah that would be cool just let me know the date and time and ill do my best.
Phil.

Tonight
I spoke with one of the club members that was thinking about "throwing in the towel". I told him like it was, what some of my ideas were, spoke about some of the commitments I have from people currently outside of the club and how existing club members need to communicate like adults instead of children. Hopefully the meeting in Jan will be positive and beneficial to keeping the club around for years to come. He is going to pass along our discussion with other members prior to the meeting. I encourage everyone to come. wd
WD The Best of Luck to you !!!!! Theirs Someone you should speak with , Tim of Tri-State Houndsmen Assoc.. He and his Wife has Rebuilt one Heck of a Club in W.Va. .. I believe He could give you some good ideas !!!!!!

Hey Matt
I know your one of the newest members over there, in my opinion the issues that the club is dealing with started many years ago. Hopefully we can get them resolved, move on and create a positive place that people want to go to and have a good time.
I've got some true commitments from current club members and new people to help make this club work.
Good luck in Benning, I was jumping out of airplanes down there in 1985, betcha didn't think I was that old huh? lol.
Good luck to you, will talk to you about breeding that female when the time comes. Wayne Dimond

Swanzey club
I'd like to get involved, would hate to lose another club here. Anything I can help with, please let me know. I'll do my best to attend the meeting and see if I can't find a few more people to bring up there with me.
wayne
If everyone comes that says they will. looks like a big turn out:d

Sure hope you can make it and bring some friends. Not sure who you are, have you been to the club before? I will post the date of the meeting as soon as I know, thank you.
knothead, it sure does. It already sounds like the club is headed in the right direction, let's hope so!
well allow me to introduce myself
My name is Barbara, I live right outside Worcester. I've been around these events since I was little but the only event we attended religiously was the reunion up in Lyndonville. My father had bear dogs so the only reason we'd go anywhere else was to show my female or run the Dollins male in the water races but that was a few years back. He got out of it and we were down to one walker, that did nothing, so I found him a home and bought myself a coondog, or what I thought could be a coondog. Since he didn't work out as planned and I don't really know any coonhunters, I started going to the hunts again on my own, just to tag along and try and make friends since I enjoy going, even if my moron doesn't come out of the box. I headed up to Swanzey this past year twice, the first time we ended up leaving because there was no one there with dogs they were entering in anything, just the one in our truck. I guess people showed up after? but I was pretty dissapointed because I remember going there as a kid and there was always a pretty decent turnout. The second time I was there, there was a total of 3 dogs for the field trial, 2 of which being dogs I brought. Ended up putting both of them in the water race just for laughs and to throw some more money towards the club, and then we had 4 dogs in the nite hunt. I've noticed participation isn't what it used to be and my home club hasn't held an event in a few years now. I'd just like to get involved so that someday when I have kids, maybe they can get as much enjoyment out of it as I did and hopefully make some friends to keep them in the sport and out of trouble. So again, if there's anything that you need a hand with, just let me know, I'd be more than happy to help in any way I can. Looking forward to meeting you and hopefully putting this little club back on its feet
Barbara
I look forward to meeting you as well. wd
