Jeff Gelvin from eastern Pa hunted out of a customized Tracker or Sidekick. He had panels put in the back side windows with holes so the dogs could hang their head out of and strike from the rig. Almost made me want to trade my 'Yota for my wife's Tracker........almost.

We hunt out of an explorer sometimes when a few guys go with us. We made a dog box that fits in the cargo area behind the seats. Works pretty good.

There was a time I hunted out of a 1967 Bonneville Pontiac station wagon.

The only problem I had was a skunky dog.

I hunted with a guy in NC that had a sweet Cherokee with a custom dog box in the back. It was a nice coonhunting ride.

Ron you should put some pics of your hunting rig, the little Toyota 2 door. It's funny to watch those plotts pop out of the back seat.

79 and 95 Broncos
Take the back seat out, lots of room for dogs, dog box or crates. I need to have a custom box built though because I don't want the solid sides/back, especially not in the summer.

Posted by Kroggy on 09-30-2009 10:43 PM:

Works pretty good until your dog runs into a skunk. Saw a guy use the family van one night, I think he had a long ride home with all the windows open. lol

Posted by Bobby Stevens on 09-30-2009 11:15 PM:

troopers are the best lots of head room sitting for 5 and a crate in the back that holds up to 4 dogs but they do get rank sometimes but they will also go most any where u point them too

Just got into coon hunting and are using our 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser.... so far so good NO SKUNKS lol

Posted by calblu on 10-01-2009 01:51 AM:

I haven't had to deal with a skunked dog since I started hunting out of a Bronco, and I bought the older one back in 94. Not even any problem with other people's dogs when I'm the driver on Nite Hunts. (Knock on wood!!)
Guess we're lucky our dogs out here don't seem very inclined to want to mess with them and we sure don't have any shortage of the stinky suckers.
I suppose if I had dogs that liked to chew on those things, I'd probably be driving the pickup all the time instead.

The worst smelling thing out here is the swamp water, but if the dogs smell like that, then so do my boots too.
