I got a female off Rattler- Won her cast and got 2nd in her first hunt at around 12 monthes old. She's been laid up w/ pups, but am fixing to start hunting her again (just turned 2).
Very intelligent, Good mouth, Hard tree dog- Don't turn her loose if you just want a quick hunt cause she covers ground quick and if the coons aren't moving.....Well, she isn't coming back.LOL

My dad has a male out of Rattler. He was a natural, at five months old he would hunt just as hard as the older dogs. Treed his own wild coon at 7 months old. I think he just turned 2. He has not put him in a hunt although I am trying to talk him into it. He hunts with a guy that has a female that has a 1st and a 2nd and his male dog is consistently the better dog.

Cody

Like Casey said: If you want a quick hunt, don't let em loose. I have a male same cross as Caseys. These are really hard hunting dogs. We have had Cody since June, He does not check in and will hunt until you catch him or he is treed. He will be in the hunts when I think he is ready which should be pretty soon. I don't think you can go wrong with a Rattler pup or dog.

are the pups independant, how accurate and what was the breeding and ability of the gyp? are they good track dogs that can really move a track, and how do they hold pressure

thanks

Tony would be able to tell you his champions and all that. I think the Nite ch Scoob dog that tony is hunting now is out of him. I believe danny perez has a nite ch male out of him. If I am not mistaken, Craig Harris's Nite ch Fred dog is out of him. I personally have not hunted with any offspring out of him but, myself, I would definately consider him. I have a female here that, if she make something, I would like to breed her to him. Hope this helps and good luck with any more info. Jim.

The female that Cody's male and Casey's female is out of is Kaskaskia River Blue Jesse She is out of a strait jet bred female and Rambo II.

Running Rattler

We had a female out of Rattler best pup ever in our kennels. She was treeing coons by her self when she was 7 months.I mean lots of them every time you cut her.She got hit by a car and killed when she was 10 months old.We are still crying. Her mother was Smokey River Blue Joey that just died a while back.I have read about and heard about early starting pups but she is the only one we ever had that was that was that solid at 7 months.

Well, you asked about the Rattler dog, in my humble opinion you can't go wrong. I bought Scoob when he was in or around 3 months old off a local guy here in Indiana. Didn't think much of him at the time, but he sure set me straight real fast. I let him tag along one night at about 5 months old, my older female got treed and by the time I reached the tree Scoob was with her. He was doing a good job treeing, so I knocked it out to them. That coon came out a kickin, at 5 months now, Ol' Scoob was all over it. I had never seen a mature dog go after a coon the way that pup did. When the battle was over, Scoob headed home with half his nose hanging off, half inch of an ear missing, and an inch and half slice on the other ear. Most pups could have been ruined by this event, but not Scoob. I had to drag him to the tailgate. Next trip out he proved to be fearless and have a natural know how for what he was doing. Now I'm no handler, so I hooked up with Tony Foley and he owns Scoob with me now. You'll not come across a better or more honest guy in the sport of coon hunting. Rattler has put out some darn fine dogs, Scoob only being one of many. I now own another Rattler pup, which I think is going to turn out to be a nice one also. Oh and let me re-emphasize, if your wanting to make a quick drop and the coons aren't moving.....TAKE ANOTHER DOG! LOL They will go until they find one.

Tony isn't there a pup down around stewertson IL.out of a female that Danny P. had. I heard he was doing a nice job at 7 mouth old but I lost track of him. Hey I know alot of people that would like to have some more of that monkey face stuff now!
Good luck at the zones let us know how you do.

I think I saw something where Bullet has hit number 1 on the reproducers list. Why do need to ask about Rattler reproducing? Both dogs are exceptional in the woods and in the stud pen as well. Rattler might be the closest thing left to Bullet and he's not that young anymore, get some great pups while you still can.

I got a pup off Bullet 2 and twin springs bullets nikki. He is doing good for the amount of exposure and hunting he has had. Tree minded, good natured, and seems to be pretty smart. He has allready tree a few coons on his own and one possom and 3 housecats and cought several big rats on the ground around here.

Rattler

Folks I know bluedogs as well as I know plotts and I tried to get Tony to sell me part of Rat back when he started hunting him. I will say this time and time again Mr. Coondawg I do not care what breed you hunt if you hunted with him you would say it too. I hunted Rat for Tony once in a hunt and it was proably worst storm and I mean storm to hunt in and one dog got treed deep and we had to walk to him a long way and on the way I treed Rat and so we wnt to score the other dog and my five had been up for a long time and we start back toward Rat but was so far and deep with the storm going it was hard to hear him the guide said he knew how to get to Rat and got us lost and didn't come close to getting back in right area to finded Rat still treed hard for a least an hour. Folks we should have not even been out in this storm and Rat stayed and had the meat. Everybody in the cast was lost for words and could not believe that Rat stayed it looked like a mud hole around the tree since he had been there so long.I seen him slam coon after coon. If I had nice female I would breed to Rat in no time flat. I bred to Rat before and was very well pleased. He is a reproducer and Mr. Coondawg. You bluetickers do not miss the boat here he is the real deal. I have told Tony before that I will follow Rat anytime or anyplace that he needs if Tony can't. Like I said Mr. Coondawg!

i asked cause im strongly considering breeding to rattler, thats why blue reb and how else would you find out about a dog that you have no first hand knowledge w/o asking? im not just trying to find a good dog to breed to im trying to find the ideal dog to bred to my gyp. she is double jet5 spanky bred. there are some tough choices, like rattler, bullet 2, tramp, jet 6. ect. btw, tony the number i had for you from rattlers ad in the bluetick issue a couple of years back is wrong now so that is why i havent made a call personally to you.

jim,

how is your spyder pup doing? my is starting to come around alittle, very tree minded.

You can't go wrong with Rat. All the pups I have seen were natural born coondogs. I can't wait to see Bullet and Rat both on top of the reprodocers list some day.

Rattler Son

Last week I had Cody (Rattlers Son) out with just a one year old Hornet daughter. They started a coon in the corn and Cody and Belle ambushed him when he tried to cross the creek. When Cody gets the death grip on a coons neck its all over. I have only had two dogs that would grab them and not let them go no matter how bad they were getting ate up and Cody is one of them. And this was a huge coon. One of the biggest I have seen.
As I said to Tony after we got him, I like his independence his hard hunting and his attitude. But this is one more reason to breed to Rattler.

Hey Rance how are you.The Spider pup was starting to go and he got crippled.Front swelled up and busted between his toes.I don't know what happened to him.Don't think it was a snake bite.It is healing very slow.He sure wants to go hunting. He is tree minded and he sure loves to fight a coon. How is yours doing?Let me know if you breed to Rattler.I think we have decieded to drive one up there to breed.

jim

its still hot down here, so i havent put alot of hunting on her, the next few months ill be able to tell a whole lot more, she will tree with the other dogs right now but hasnt really opend up a whole lot on track, she has gotten over her shyness though thankfully.

im going to start pupping my blaze female in the hunts this month, only problem she is due to coem in heat at anytime. she sure can tree a coon, hopefully she will finish pretty easy.

ive finally decided on what im going to breed my double jet 5/spanky gyp off of warrior creek cw to, after speaking with tony its going to be rattler. she should come in in november. she is a fair to good hound that can look great or crappy. she has a third place in limited hunts. with her breeding and her abilities in the woods combined with that of rattlers, the pups should turn out nice. she will also be breed the next time she comes in following that.

RATTLER

Seems as if this is the stud dog to go with according to some of you guys........I hope that this hound isn't overlooked, and be missed out on like the Bullet Dog that Tony believed in, and promoted to the public making a name for him. I belive if he had been bred to more good females, and not just as a money maker stud dog in his last years of life he would have been more successful that what he was.......I wish all good luck with your young dogs from the Rattler hound.......
