Hunting Alone

HOW MANY OF YOU GUYS/GALS HUNT ALONE? DO YOU ENJOY HUNTING ALONE? WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE COMPANY? MY WIFE FUSSES AND FUSSES ABOUT ME HUNTING ALONE JUST WANNA SEE HOW MANY OTHERS DO IT. I KNOW ITS SAFER IN NUMBERS BUT I DONT ALWAYS HAVE SOMEONE TO GO WITH ME.

Personally I would rather hunt with someone. It's just more fun to me.

But, IMO you can't have a real coondog without hunting it by itself.

When I am working on a prospect I will hunt it by itself 3 nights a week or so and with other dogs maybe 1-2 nights a week.

A dog has to be able to do it without help for me to keep it.

I very rarely hunt with other people, most often coon hunt alone. Deer hunting I always do alone.

i hunt alone 90 percent of the time ,not because i want to but because i hunt some rough areas that no one wants to hunt but hunting young dogs you need to hunt where the coon are. now that i tyrned 70 my wife keeps nagging me not to hunt alone, however if i'm leaving this world i will leave doing what i love best they will find me my hounds will stay with me

Hunting Alone.

I have hunted alone alot. But i prefer hunting with others,it safer and to me,more fun.I knew a man that was hunting alone and fell into an old well.It was dry, which was good for him.It took three days for someone to find him.I think i will stay hunting with company.

Posted by Velocity on 03-14-2009 07:58 PM:

I hunt with a few guy's from our club a couple nights a week and hunt alone about half the time.Like you said the company is great and also the dogs need to socialize plus be able to do it on thier own also. I hunt a spot or 2 that alot of guy's wont hunt do to hills and rough going. But thats fine because its loaded with coon for the same reason :> )

About 50/50 for me with coon hunting. But I always carry my cell phone in case something happens when I'm hunting by myself. As my three boys get older though I figure I'll hunt alone a lot less.

I WOULD RATHER HAVE BUDDIES WITH ME TOO. ITS FUN. 99.9% OF THE TIME MY SON IS WITH ME. BUT YOU KNOW HOW TEENAGERS ARE.

I HUNT ALONE 85% OF THE TIME. BUT ENJOY HUNTING WITH OTHERS SOMETIMES TOO. YOU WILL END UP WITH BETTER DOGS HUNTING ALONE.

I'm like wayne f.

I'm 73 years old & I spent about 2 1/2 hrs. down in the hills last night by myself. It was 35 degrees & I just had a flannel shirt on with a t-shirt underneath & I was soaking wet with sweat when I got back to the truck. I was hunting a 4 yr. old female & two 8 month old pups that are just starting to run & tree.

My wife makes me buckle an extra tracking collar on to my belt, so if something happens, they will be able to borrow a reciever & find me hopefully before the coyotes do. LOL

Another good thing about hunting by yourself is that you can go hunting & come home on your schedule.

Boys, there's bogey men and all kinds of dangeous creatures out there!!!!!!! I never go alone............. I always take a dog or two with me!!!!

Please don't hunt alone-I lost my brother this past deer season while he was kind of hunting alone the four of them had split up and gone to different stands when the accident happened-he had his cell phone, but the dear Lord still took him-and yes us wives fuss about you guys hunting alone-but there are safety in numbers--just food for thought.

There you go, most of the time I take a dog with me, but sometimes I don't. some times I just leave the dogs on thier chains and go alone. most of the time I catch as many alone, as I do with the dogs.

I hunt alone about 50% of the time, I just like it, and you will learn a lot more about your dog.

Most of the time

Yeah I hunt alone 90% of the time only because I'm trying to build a prospect, about once a week I might go with my buddy but other then that I do it alone and have a ball doing it,cause I get excited when the chase is on.

Do you open good on trail with a nice change over and blow the top out of the tree, chopping about 120 beats/min? If so I might want to hunt ya...LOL

This is Wakenda's girlfriend. He hunted alone most of the time until July 25th of last year when he fell down a hollow and had to crawl for 12 hours back up to get phone signal to get help. After suffering a broken knee and a 6 month recovery, he has learned the value of not hunting alone. From my perspective, it was a nightmare trying to find him that I don't care to repeat.

Now Mike,

you know that you don't hunt by yourself. Your WIFE has to go along to lead you back out to the truck,LOL.

Don't make me tell everyone about you & the other 2 cast members last spring over at Sesser, in the flooded back water of Rend Lake.
