Hey you coonhunt'in bow hunters.

I have a question for you coonhunters that bow hunt too.I'am thinking about getting a bow.I know nothing about them.I'am left handed.Would i need a left handed bow and is there such a thing? Also, what is a good name bow to buy? Thank you.

Kenny

Yes they make left handed bows. As for the Brand there are several quality brands. We personally shoot Bowtech and Diamond, but Mathews would be my second choice.

ken

the best bow on the market is the PSE X-force. go online and watch the comparison video with other bows. i bought one and they are the real deal. nothing faster in the world

I like a Martin myself. It's kind of like a ford/ chevy thing. Go out and try several brands and see which one fits you and your wallet better.

the best bow is the one that you feel most comfortable with. forget the names. i shoot the diamond ica man, but bowtech, diamond, mathews, and pse all make great bows. shoot em' first and get the one you like the best, not what someone else tells you is the best.

This man is right. A bow is kinda like a coondog. Everyone has an opinion on what "best" is. You need to see what you like.

Hoyt

Before you buy anything make sure you try out the new Hoyt Alpha Max. Best of the best imo. wd

Right on. The truth is it doesn't matter what brand bow you use. Get one that feels good and practice and you will be able to kill deer! Heck, I got an uncle that makes self-made stick bows out of hedge wood and kills deer every year with them. His arrows, he makes out of river cane with turkey feather fletchings and he naps his own arrow heads out of obsidian.

I got one of his bows too, but I just play around with it on targets. I hunt with a PSE.

But the point is shoot, shoot, and shoot some more. That's what makes a good bowhunter, not having to think about how to shoot your bow when the big one walks up!

Like i said in the post about my uncle, he shoots stick bows he makes himself. It is more instinctive shooting which some guys love. I have fun with it, but am not disciplined enough to practice enough to not have the "training wheels" as my uncle calls them.

I can gaurantee you that I shoot bows more than anyone on this forum. The best way to do it is figure out what eye dominance you are and go to a dealer and shoot every bow they have for at least 10-20 shots. I personally shoot the mathews reezen but have a bowtech general, hoty alpha max, and a rytera(martin) alien X. I also have a mathews monster XLR8 on order it is the fastest bow ever produced( or will be) when they decide on a design I know it will shoot at 370 FPS. Now with all that said after you buy your bow FIND A GOOD TRAINER AND DO EVERYTHING THEY SAY!!!!!!! The most important thing you will ever do in your archery career is LEARN GOOD FORM AND PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE! I shoot 2-3 hours everyday in every kind of condition I may encounter. I will even go outside and shoot in the rain, snow, sleet and anything else I may hunt in.

Yea they rented a design from mathews and acted like they really came up with something. Now I will say that PSE Omen is a complete PSE design short of the Original stuff they used. (NAmely the past parrell limb design) They stacked the odds again the other bow companys in that test they took a speed bow and shot again the smooth slower cammed bows of other companys.

Another thing to remember is that "speed is not everthing". Most manufactureres push that their bows shoot 300+ fps, who cares!
If you have a bow that's fast but eratic and hard to keep tuned, what good is it???
Good form and practice is key.
Try'em before you buy'em, whatever fits you needs and fits within your budget (because you can spend as much as you want on todays equipment) is what's best for you.

I dont see how you guys could have shot a Mathews up against these other bows and claim the Mathews is not smoother and quiter..It just aint happening..I've compared em all..

facts boys

they had to all compete in a test and the x-force smoked them all. its faster, smoother, more energy, and the only bow on the market that can shoot threw the ballistics gell, and i mean all the way threw it and hit the target. its ok if you guys like other bows just don't be telling stories you when you don't know facts.

GA DAWG

I shot the Mathews Drenalin for a few months and switch to the Hoyt Alpha Max, just my preference. The Drenalin was nice but I like the Alpha Max alot better. I tried out the X-Force as well prior to the Alpha Max, just wasn't for me. I've been shooting for about 25 years and have shot/tried about everything out there at one time or another. It's all about personal preference and what works for the person shooting it, jmo. wd

Travis P, I wouldn't be so quick to make a statement like that. wd
