cannon rebel digitial best money you can spend. you mite get 1 cheaper but from my experience you wont be happy until you get the rebel ive tried a bunch and they all seem to have a sec delay when you want the picture the rebel will take 3.5 pictures a second and a video. dont stttle for less save a little longer and get the good one i got my wifes at costco. complete setup 2 lens carrying case everything for 699.00 if you would like to talk about it feel free to call 571-233-5819 joe

If your wanting to get a camera to carry in the woods I don't think I'd get the Rebel. I'd get a good point and shoot camera. ost of my hunting oictures are taken with a sony cybershot H5. They have updated it and think the new one is a H9 or maybe higher.

digital camera

I would also recommend the canon EOS rebel xsi as I just purchased this camera for my g/f just this past christmas. However as the other guys mentioned, this may not be a feasible camera to tote around the woods at night. It is just to nice and expensive. The one thing that I will say, is that it is very user friendly and comes with software to download onto your computer and after that downloading pics is as simple as just plugging the camera in! If you are interested in this camera, go to www.fotoconnection.com. This is where I purchased our from and I got a package deal that retailed for around $3,000.00 and I only paid $1200.00. No these are not refurbished or aftermarket cameras, brand new name brand out of the factory boxes! If you opt to go with something smaller and less expensive, any one of the kodak easyshare's with a printing dock will do a great job! Oh yeah, for some great examples of what the canon can do, go to www.troutnut.com and look under landscapes & trout. If you look at the bottom right of the pic, you will see the camera name that took the pic! Not all were taken with a canon!

The Kodac digital camera I had was junk and you can't get rid of the software once you put it on your computer. I carry a AIPTEC camcoder in my shirt pocket every time I go hunting. It takes decent videos and also takes still pictures. It comes with the hardware and software to work on most computers. They can be bought for less than $100. I have had mine for close to a year with rough use and it still does a good job. Taking and posting videos is as easy as a picture and for my money, much better.

Well, for picture quality you can beat a DSLR. They have the quality, shutter speed, and manual focus. These camera's are very big, and you'll never carry it in the woods with you. Trust me. I use a Nikon D80 with a 200MM lense...but never, ever in the woods while hunting with hounds. It's just too big and bulky. You can take wonderful pictures, but not while it's sitting at home. You can take it out for a walk or on snowshoes, and get great wild life closeups. The DSLR's just are not practical for hunting.

A point and shoot is easier to carry..much easier to pack with you so you'll take it along with you on hunts. Canon makes a point and shoot, with a 20X optical zoom for under $400. It's a very nice camera and trust me...you'll use the zoom. 10MP res, very fast shutter speed for a point and shoot. I should have one of these in a few weeks time to try out.

I dropped my wifes digitl camera in the swamp one night...... not good for me

Posted by POTOMAC on 02-21-2009 03:32 PM:

the man did not say he wanted it to take to the woods every nite he said what is a nice camera to take pictures with. i have a 300.00 bushnell waterproof digitial camera thet i have taken to the woods. its not worth a sh?? . if you want a nice nice camera and 1 you can take to the woods at nite and get exceptional pictures get the canon rebel. no i dont carry my wifes canon in the woods every nite but if i need some pictures i talk her into carrying the canon in the woods at nite she will take the picts and develop them. pretty good deal. im not knocking the other cameras im just stating from experience i wish i never would have bought the cheaper 1. a waste of money. thanks for reading

I took these two photos just yesterday with a Nikon D80 with a 200MM lens from about 80 yards or so away. I almost always use the manual focus to avoid it focusing on an unseen branch at half range. Takes a nice photo for your collection, but way too big to take hunting unless you're along to photograph someone else's hunt and just have the camera to worry about.

No one is saying the Canon Rebel isn't a GREAT camera. But I wouldn't want to carry it in the woods every night. My sony Cybershot H5 takes great pics for coonhunting.

I've got the Sony Cyber-shot and the Samsung L200. I believe the Sony will out shoot the Samsung at night, but I do like being able to zoom in and out while taking videos. Thats where the Samsung come into play. They both take great daytime pics.

Posted by HOBO on 02-21-2009 05:10 PM:

I just tried my Sony h5 I can zoom in with the video.

I also had a Samsung that took great pic's at night. Most people try to use the night time setting to get their hunt pics. The best thing to do is put ypur camera on the sports/action settings and take them.
