North and South shoot out
Why not have an event in the DEEP south and then one in the north and see which dog gains the most points and then this would be settled

north and south
meeting in the middle won't solve a thing because that is open hardwoods and beautiful terrain so it is truely easier on the dogs. I have treed coons in Missouri, Virginia, Tennesee, North Carolina, and SOUTH MISSISSIPPI and by far the hardest place is SOUTH MISSISSIPPI. Lets put them hounds to the ultimate test and have it in the SOUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Up and Down ? That is beautiful and I admit it is rough but moreso on the hunter than the dog. Down here its like trying to go through a net wire fence with all the briars and blowed down trees piled on top of each other so that you can walk 100 yards and never touch the ground and when you do its either crawling or walking backwards so the briars don't take your face off thats what I call rough.

Im on your side with this one matt i have been across the country as well and what they called rough i called heaven. A dog from the north just wont do as good down here in south mississippi im sorry it just gonna take some time to adjust. Now the mountians i have not hunted in so i cant really comment on that.

matt
There are more coon in the north ?
more coons
okay as a coonhunter be honest is it easier for a dog to tree coons where they are like maggots on a dead carcus or is it proof of what kind of dog you have when he has to actually put his nose on the ground and look for a coon that may be in 100 yrds or within 2 miles now you tell me. I know what kinda dog I want. I want one that will actually hunt and find a coon even if there is only one coon in that particular block of woods mine better find him or he is for sale cheap.
TELL THEM BOUT OUR WOODS KYLE

matt is right the first time i turned my dog loose up north he went a hundred yards ha ha maybe 75 and treed. I heard it would be quick like that but not that fast. Now down here its a whole new ball game dogs gotta get deep and go trough the worst stuff you could think off. If it aint a briar patch, its a slough, if it aint a slough its a sure enough pond you gonna sink in mud an get wet. Its just a whole new ball game down here. To tree a coon down here he gotta have a real coon dog. Not sayin the north dont have any cause i know for a fact they do, but the woods down here is just a new ball game and if you dont think so come on down i know matt and I would take you to as many trees as you want.

The place I live a dog has to get out and hunt to a coon, it can't just run over a coon track. I am talking atleast 700 to 1000 yards. Most of the time
Matt i wouldnt even take the person i hated the most to buzzard roost ha ha parker lake would be a good place i hunt there all the time. You remember that night i won and came back black ha i had smutt all over me from where they burned it off and bloody from some thick stuff. I walked in with the score card and the master of hounds said H**L boy i hope you one afther the looks of you haha

I am warning you the north end is as bad as buzzard roost. I would like to get some people to come go in there and help me chop some trails so it would be easier the next time

cant you southerners just admitt defeat? i mean come on we won this war over 100 yrs ago. get over it, everything is better up here
no but really what do you think the south is the only place with cuttovers and briars? trust me there is plenty of junk to hunt here too the difference is when you go to a hunt around here people are trying to win so they take you to there good spots not the junk they hunt all week long

matt
Even western Ky has more coon then we do. With good dogs if we tree 2 you need to go to the house because the next time you turn the dogs loose your going to pull an all nighter.
Here a dog strikes one coon and that the only coon track he smells on the way to the tree.
In OH and IN and northern place they run over 3 or 4 more coon tracks on their way to the tree. If we can tree 5 to 8 coon in one week were flying.
Dk. I know there are cutovers but our woods are as bad as most cutovers and this has never been settled by the way we don't think we are better than anyone we just get a kick out of spoiled hunters that really think they are better cause I thought we were created equally that's just my opinion
