Dog Food?

I was wondering what everone was thinking on dog food. Is there one dog food better than the rest. What is most commonly used by hunters and feild trailiers alike. I know Black Gold and UKC have buddied up again this year but are they really the best or is it just good marketing. thx Jason

Dog food

Pro Plan performance and Black gold, blue bag 24/20

I use Crystal Dog food based out of Gambier Ohio, small company, but only uses the best ingredients. the owner of the co. explained how manufactuers base their ingredients on price, he uses the same type of , and quality, of ingrediants no matter the price , even if the price goes up. He would rather raise the price of the dog food and give you the same product, then to use a lesser grade ingredient just to keep the price down, just the same, the price is still as reasonable as Hi-standard, but in my book a better food. I've tried them all and , not being biased, but I seem to like it the best. He started it all based for his coon hounds. Its 22/14 Crystal pro. It shines their coats, it doesn't heat them up, and if not over feed they seem to have pretty good endurance. Just my testimonial, but give it a try.

Best feed I have ever fed is Sportsman Pride. 21-12 in warm weather and 30-20 in cold.

No stinky poop and dogs look great with plenty of stamina.
Call Ed Mc Kinney at 1-800-705-2111 and find out where you can get some.

Diamond feed will cancel any dealer that brings in Sportsman Pride to compete with them as there is no camparison and they know it.

Intemidation doesn't work on dog people. No, I don't get a thing from recommending it or any other way.

Sportsmans Pride is what I feed also.I feed 26/18 all year long and all the dogs do great on it.I've tried alot of feeds including Black Gold and in my opinion Sportsmans Pride is the best in that price range.

I fed the Sportsmans Pride until I couldn't get it anymore. Best feed I ever used.

Posted by VICKY B on 07-27-2007 02:34 PM:

What is the Black bag of SportMix you feed? I feed the Blue bag (26-18) and have good luck with it.

Posted by Woodhill Kennel on 07-27-2007 07:46 PM:

sports mix black bag is 24/20 and it has about 80 cals less per pound.

I really like the way my Hounds look on Joy 24/20, Shining coats and getting fat on way less food than on Purina Pro Plan.

I have been feeding Hi-Standard for about 3 years now and I just love it. All of my dogs are fat and slick, and it is absolutely emberrassing on how little I feed my dogs.

I would recommend Hi-Standard Dog Food to everyone. We have a distributor here in Missouri that I got to buy a tractor trailer load earlier this year. He is now selling about 2000 bags of Hi-Standard every month and making some money. He was selling Sportmix and there was so many other distributors around him that they were all just fighting each other----I am currently doing some sales work with Hi-Standard, give Wade a call at the Hi-Standard main office, toll free 866-357-3335.

Crystal

Brad,
Kenny st john makes it he lives down by utica. He has made it for 20 years or so. Tried it didn't work out for me when running hard.
Every body to their own ideas, what works good for me may not suit someone else just like dogs.

dog food

i have fed black gold,hi standard and joy super meal.all the ingredients are same.the difference is the protein and fat contact and hi standard, black gold are the sme 26 18 and the joy is 26 15.

I fed Black Gold until they raised the price $2.62 per bag at one whack. I felt like I was being robbed, I liked it better than anything I had fed at the time, but had to put my foot down.

Now im feeding Pride 26/18 and the dogs seem to do well. My trial results are about the same, but thejury is still out on how they hold up in cold weather.

I sure did like that Black Gold black bag.

Hi-Standard is best dog food for your money stools are great and their coats are shiny and less shedding.

Posted by Jeremy Mapes on 10-28-2009 06:23 PM:

I've fed Pride 26/18 for about 6months now and my dogs seem to be good with it. Shiny coat and no more loose stool. Black Gold is good food, it just cost a little more and nobody real close to me sells it.

Purina

My dog is still a "pup" and have tried a couple different types. I started her on a brand called the Healthy life. It got to the point she wouldnt eat it. I switched to purina puppy chow (half soft) and it is the only thing she will eat. Feeding one dog is not very expensive...She has one of the shinniest coats of hair I have seen.
