I have a few that I switch out. my main hunting ground is on federal land so I have to use a rifle. 22/20ga over under w/4x scope. I use this one when hunting alone easier to see with the scope and hold light. 22/410 open sights if some else is with me to hold light. Now that im in La I cant use the shot guns on coon.
I also recently purchased a couple of pistols to use off base after deer season. walther p22 and ruger mark III hunter.
I've shot out 2 so far with the walther but haven't used the ruger for hunting yet.

I use a stainless Ruger 10-77 with 3-9 X 32

1. Marlin model 60 w 4x32 scope when by myself

2. Rossi 22 single shot with 4x32 scope when my son goes. Thats his gun and we take it hoping one wont climb high so he can shoot one out. He tends to shake a little when holding gun up whereas he is accurate as heck shooting at targets. He'll get it though and he nor I cant wait.

3. Ruger MarkII pistol when I dont feel like carrying rifle.

How's that been working out for ya Russ? It looks like it all sets up too high and will be susceptible to getting knocked around and losing it's zero? Especially while coonhunting. I'd be curious to know how rugged that set up is.

Posted by P.W. Chapman on 11-30-2006 04:39 PM:

I have a Little Cricket like Russ has. Except mine has a little 3-7 variable scope on it.

It's lightweight and accurate. Plus you can shoot LRs, longs, or shorts in it.

I use a savage model 70 .22 with a Bsa laser sight like Mr Boyette has there untile Mr Game Warden informed me that a laser sight is illegal so know i just shot open sites

I have the same BSA laser sight, mounted on a .22 bolt action single shot that will shoot LR's or shorts. I have a sling on it and carry it that way, mostly.

I've never had the sight knocked out of adjustment and this rifle gets knocked around alot. The worst thing is the little button on top that turns the laser on is so exposed that the laser gets turned on by accident sometimes.

All in all, its a pretty good setup.

20 gauge single shot

one shot puts them on the ground with more fight in them.

The laser sights are illegal in Michigan. You can use a red dot scope as long as the dot isn't projected outside the scope.

I have a single shot Savage M1-G equipped with a Mueller red dot scope, and I prefer to shoot CCI SGB.

http://www.muelleroptics.com/products/MU2732IGR.html

http://www.cci-ammunition.com/ballistics/rimfire.aspx

Click on detail for SGB.

It isn't as light as a Cricket, but it sure the heck can shoot.

I have $99 + tax in the gun; $11 in the bases; and $29.99+tax in the laser sight.

Todd, I havent used it much. I just got it a couple weeks ago, but i hunt with a man that has one, and as far as i know, his hasnt been off much yet. You are limited as far as accuracy goes. The dot get larger the further away you aim it, and being that the laser projects a level line, it is not exactly "on" .

Say you sight it in at 25 yards, you are basically making the bullet cross the level line at 25 yards. The further away the target, you have to account fo bullet drop.

I was fortunate to have a little taller peep sight that i can place under the base plate. I do have a little redundancy.

I use a 375 H&H one shot usually does it!!!!!!!!

The Neo U22 is hard to beat, when I get tired of packing the H&H that is what I use.
