Jewel Is Having Puppies Tonight

When I got in from hunting a while ago, I checked on Jewel and she is having pups.

Three so far, all blaze faced males. But she is loaded and nowhere near done.

Thanks for the well wishes, the kind words, and the other things.

She does look like a ticked up Walker, but is too fast on track to be a Walker.

Hows she bred John. I knew a guy back home that had a male Bluetick that looked more like a Walker than that. LOL

Heavy Uchtman's Ranger blood. Her mother was the last living daughter of Ranger IV.

Her sire showed Ranger V twice in three generations, and Ranger II in his fourth.

Gary says she looks exactly like old Flash II, her great grandmother.

I had a pretty big time Walker man tell me one night after hunting with her that she operated like a Walker, just with more nose.

I know that in his own stingy way, he was trying to be complimnentary.

Actually, it is a color phase that crops out in Blueticks from several different lines.

I see it more in Uchtman dogs than anything else though.

LOL. That's a good one, John.

About 3 years ago I had a B&T female who whelped 14 pups. I got home just in time to see her have the 1st pup. This was her first litter, and she was VERY LARGE, and I thought she might have whelping problems. I stayed by her side for the next 16 hours, only gone long enough to eat dinner and go to the bathroom. I watched her have all 14 puppies, and watched her preform all the "mommy duties" after each pup. Yuck!!! It was a VERY humbeling experience. I was amazed how this first-time mother knew exactly what to do.

Good luck with your pups.

Well, I checked her this morning, and the best I could tell without disturbing her too much it looked like she has eight pups.

The final count is 10--six males and four females. All blazed face, no black headed ones.

Nt. Ch. Gr. Ch. Razor Ridge DUI. He is a son of Gr.Ch. Pop A Top Again, and a grandson of old Pop A Top.

His mother is a Nt. Ch sister to Screwey Lewey, out of Rambo II and the Sadie female that topped the Reproducer's list for a while.

That is big enough, Mike. I thought he go more than 55 pounds. He sounds about right.

Her last litter was tight linebred, and all were Blue.

I expect all these to be blue.

I should know pretty quick. Actually, I can look at their bellies and tell now if i cared to do it.

The white pups will have a freckled belly.
