Garmin DC40 w/216.00 Transmitter

I can make the Transmitter Case much smaller .. It does'nt need to be water proof cuz the Micro Falconry Transmitter is Totaly Sealed, This Transmitter has a Magnetic Switch in it ..

That's really neat. What's the range on it? And how much would one cost out the door like that?

Very neat idea, my main concern would be the durability on the antenna.

The Antenna is a High Tensil Braided Aloy with Heatshrink cover ... You can Twist it around your finger all the way down to the Screw in section of the transmitter .. If you should ever ware out an Antenna their about $8 to replace ..

Heres a Link ... Mine is abit more expansive .. You can buy one without the Mag. Switch for $95 ..

Why Cuz a 1000 yard Line of Site isn't enough distance with the Garmin here in the Shenandoah Valley !!! If you put a hill in between you and your hound you can cut that in half ..

Pretty interesting! I really like the size of the unit. I don't think folks realize how important the radio telemetry still is in mountainous terrain. I know I will not turn a dog loose without old faithful. I am guessing you made the housing out of something from the hardware store.

So are you going to make a few of these to sell or just providing info on an alternative sized unit.. I am guessing the freq is only in 216?? Also range is it comparable to a regular powered collar. I have always used the C cell Johnson collar, and not a high powered collar because of the potential for a reflection or just flat out being swamped. What about batt. life?

You are probably wondering, can this guy not figure out how to click on the link by now, but thought I would help put this one back to the top, looks like the cats pajamas to me, and it may be usefull to someone else who didn't see it.

I would order one or two to try out if you are making them.

No I'am not Selling anything !! lol Just showing you can have a Back-up in a Very Small Configuration ... And yes the 2 nylon threaded Plugs came from the Hardware Store ..

These Transmitters are Very Strong !! and they come in all the Common Feg.

Up Close Look at the Transmitter

The 1/3N Battery is as big as the Transmitter

Which hardware store you getting those plugs at? I am in your neck of the woods from time to time, yesterday being the most recent.

I can't seem to find them at the ones that are close to me. Looked at the Saunton Lowes, but didn't see any but I was getting alot of stuff, so really didn't spend a whole lot of time looking, just filling the cart with what was on the list as fast as I could...ended up with two carts full and a thin wallet!

Also how are you attaching them, just dirlling thru and a rivet? Soon as I can find the plugs, I am ordering one.

thankx for the info.

Here is alink to them on-line http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/it...1&catid=551

Go to Tractor Supply and back in the Horse tack section they have 1/4" Chicago Screws ...

The Chicago Screw goes thru the Inside Wall of the Tube .. Got to use Tweasers to do it ..
